The First (Ykkönen)

How did love begin? In 1975, Pirjö and Erkki Kauppinen built the first cottage, or simply The First, on the shores of Lake Haukijärvi. The cottage was built from timber harvested on this site, and the road to it was made only later.

We strived to preserve the romantic retro charm of the cottage to this day.

There is a shed, made of logs of the old ancestral home, used for overnight stays and a kota, hut of the Sami people, in the courtyard. Winter is a rest period for The First, but those who go down the breathtaking 120-meter illuminated Hurmos slope sometimes come to the kota to rest and have a snack. If the winter is reasonably cold, a sleigh carousel is mounted on the lake.
